This week we meet Tom Crookes, our Sales Manager. Tom helps you get the furniture and lighting you want, on time and within budget.
Why did you want to work at Nest?
I had just moved back to Sheffield (my home city) after 9 years in London and 18 months living in Australia and doing a bit of travelling. Having completed a degree in Three Dimensional Design I have always worked in and around the design industry and for modern design retailers in London. Finding Nest in Sheffield was great because it meant I could use the experience and knowledge gained in London. After a quick chat with Christian I knew I could help develop Nest into something fantastic, 5 years later I believe we have.

I was the lead singer and front man of a band called Karman. We were signed to a couple of labels but never made it big! Got radio plays on BBC Radio 1, X-FM, Capital, Hallam, and BBC Radio Sheffield to name a few. We released a single called 'Breakdown' in the year 2000 with a limited run of 5000 copies which sold out in HMV on Oxford Street, London on 6 occasions in the first week.
I got Karman banned from Capital Radio after I swore live on stage in front of 20,000 people at the Capital Radio Road Show at Earls Court, the broadcast was being played live across London! In my defence they wanted me to mime and when I refused I got on stage and couldn't hear myself over the screaming crowd and got a little frustrated (I do not condone the use of bad language!).
There is currently a copy of our single available for purchase on eBay, I have no idea who is selling it but if you buy it I'll sign it for you.
