Best of British
Our British collections offer an eclectic mix of classic and emerging designs from some of the most respected designers in the industry.
Another Country, Tom Dixon, Terence Woodgate, G&T by Bethan Gray and SCP all have something different and unique to offer. However, each of them are renowned for producing functional, durable and timeless designs with a refined and thoughtful attention to detail. We take a look at some new and much-loved designs from each brand to give you a clearer idea of what each manufacturer is about.
For traditional British country furniture with contemporary Scandinavian elements, Another Country offers the ideal mix. Their products have a distinct and homely aesthetic and are manufactured with FSC certified solid wood for longevity and sustainability. Even the packaging is made of recyclable materials, demonstrating that each fine detail has been carefully considered.
Another Country’s new London-based showroom charmingly demonstrates the simple and informal style that their furniture is loved for. The interior is bright, neutral and pristine, with accent colours breaking up the neutral tones of the white walls and wooden floors.
The refined aesthetic of this elegant sofa makes it one of our all-time favourite designs. Its style can best be described as classic with a contemporary twist, taking the traditional country look and reinventing it with clean lines and block colour. We particularly love the Mint version, but the Sofa One is also available in Pewter, Ruby, Indigo and Khaki.
The industrial trestle base of the Another Country Dining Table Three is a true standout feature of this expertly-crafted piece of furniture. The combination of dark grey and pale beech wood makes for a distinctive and contemporary design, which is well suited to both home and commercial environments.
The Another Chair has a playful character despite its simple form and comes in Signal Black, Solid Oak, Stone Grey, Pigeon Blue and Cream. The light and rounded exterior makes this versatile chair perfect for suiting a variety of environments, including both kitchens and dining rooms. Plus, it’s incredibly comfortable!
Known for his lavish and sumptuous designs, Tom Dixon is one of Britain’s most influential designers and has a particular style that is instantly recognisable. Tom Dixon was established in 2002 by the man himself and David Begg in order to capture and manufacture the unique heritage of British industry and has since grown to boast an eclectic collection that is admired all over the world.
Tom Dixon Y Chair Sled Base
Not only does this chair have a unique and desirable y-shaped silhouette, but it is capable of absorbing shock through its flexible yet strong body. The Y Chair makes a dramatic statement in both Black & White.
These lights are hand-beaten and spun by skilled craftsmen to produce their unique and bulbous final shape. The latest addition comes in soft mauve grey, but the Beat Lights are also available in Black, Brass and White with contrasting metallic interiors.
An exciting new addition to the Form collection, this spun brass teapot has been dipped in a warm gold wash for a grand and sumptuous appearance. The contrast of the large black handle adds a contemporary feature to an otherwise traditional vessel.
You might’ve seen Terence Woodgate mentioned quite frequently recently and this is thanks to his new and exciting lighting collection. Entitled ‘Solid’ and launched this year, the collection is comprised of sophisticated pendant lights made from Carrara Marble, Nero Marquina Marble and Walnut. The style of the pendants is simple and refined, but the functional aspects have been carefully and thoughtfully implemented to consider longevity and efficiency. Make sure to read our interview with Terence Woodgate for a detailed look at the collection.
G&T by Bethan Gray
Award-winning British designer Bethan Gray and furniture developer Thomas Turner are both highly respected within the industry and joined together to produce a timeless collection of highly-skilled furnishings. Each design is traditional and simple with a distinctive character that makes it stand out from the rest.
Brogueing might be traditionally used in shoe production, but it also works fantastically within the design of this solid side table. The intricate brogue detailing on the smooth leather table top gives the design a unique and elegant character that is distinctive of G&T’s furnishings. Over time, the table will age to develop its individual story.
Based on the traditional three-legged Welsh table used as a solution to uneven slate floors, this coffee table has been reinterpreted to offer a contemporary alternative. The marble top and rounded wood legs make an elegant and refined combination, with the natural character of the marble providing a distinct pattern that is unique to each table.
SCP was founded in 1985 by Sheridan Coakley, a manufacturer and retailer who was inspired by the designs of the Modern Movement. Since its beginning, SCP has been renowned for its classically beautiful and functional furniture with the odd eclectic twist.
First designed by George Nelson in 1947, the Bubble Pendant Lamp is a true mid-century classic. In the present day, it has been reintroduced with the original specifications and has a permanent space in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The SCP Oscar Three Seater Sofa perfectly balances tradition and modernity, with its elegant silhouette and cosy grey fabric making up the desirable combination. Not only is the sofa visually beautiful, but it is also made with sustainable materials and manufactured in the UK.
Featuring Donna Wilson’s signature geometric patterns, the SCP Pouffes are upholstered with soft knitted wool for superb comfort and quality. The eclectic colours and eye-catching patterns of these cushioned pouffes are what makes them particularly appealing and perfect for creating a homely vibe within your living space.
