Part of Wastberg's wider W202 Halo series, the S4 pendant embodies David Chipperfield's vision to revive the archetypal lightbulb form with a contemporary twist. Providing a warm and pleasant light, the expertly crafted mouth-blown glass pieces come together to create a well-balanced and subtle solution. The shallow conical shade rests artfully upon the bulb with an integrated LED within, directing the soft glow downwards. Ideal for suspending above kitchen counters and table arrangements, the pendant can integrate seamlessly into a wide range of styled spaces.
Born in 1953 in London, Sir David Chipperfield later studied at the Kingston School of Art and the Architectural Association in London.
After graduating, he established his own architectural practice in the early 1980s and went on to receive a multitude of awards and titles. These included becoming an Honorary Member of the Florence Academy of Art and Design, a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) and receiving the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
One of his greatest successes was receiving the RIBA Royal Gold Medal for Architecture in 2011. Given in recognition of a lifetime’s work, the Royal Gold Medal is approved personally by Her Majesty the Queen.
