Mingus' form is organic even if it originates in four straight surfaces. The lamp's top is flat and fitted with an acrylic fixture that allows light to escape. The bright ring, therefore, sheds some faint light on the cord.
The tones of colour change in different light and take on the hues of their surroundings. If several lamps in different shades are installed, they interact with each other, eventually producing new tones.
Cecilie Manz was born in the Odsherred region of Denmark. As the child of parents occupied with art and design, designing always formed a natural part of her life. In 1998, a year after she graduated from the Danish School of Design she started her own studio, Manz Lab, the centre of her work ever since.
