A design with combined beauty and practicality, the CH011 Coffee Table boasts an uncomplicated, solid wood construction. The natural wood surface features a pleasing lengthwise running grain and the rounded profile of the design promotes a welcoming feel. A carefully considered design features tapered legs that tilt slightly outwards towards the two sides of the table to bring an elegant lightness to the solid top of the table. This lightness continues through the rounding of the legs towards the floor. Achieving elegance and lightness in the design, does not compromise on sturdiness, with a solid wooden frame in the shape of a wide letter H providing a link between the top and the legs for stability. Adaptability is achieved through its narrow dimensions and three height options; Intended primarily for use as a coffee table but due to its narrow width it can work equally well as a side table. The end result combines to provide a coffee table design to fit harmoniously within the home, adaptable for a range of spaces and rooms. The CH011 Coffee Table works wonderfully in unison with Wegner’s wooden lounge chairs.
With his love of natural materials and his deep understanding of the need for furniture to be functional as well as beautiful, Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) made mid-century Danish design popular on an international scale. He began his career as a cabinetmaker in 1931 and subsequently entered the Copenhagen School of Arts & Crafts. After receiving his architectural degree in 1938, he worked as a designer in Arne Jacobsen and Erik Muller's architectural office before establishing his own office in 1943.
