What Colour is your Personality?
Our world is bursting with colour, but what about our personalities? It’s a bit out there, but when The Colour Ministry paid a visit to Nest HQ, we couldn’t help but be a little intrigued...
To find out your colour personality and get some tips on how you can use different shades in your interior, work out the following sum (it’s easy, we promise!) Using the date of your birth, add each number together and keep adding until you have a one-digit number!
Follow this example…
Take your birthday:
23/03/1995 = 2 + 3 (day), 0 + 3 (month), 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 (year)
Then add all of the digits together (in any order!):
2 + 3+ 0 + 3+ 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 32
Add the digits in the answer together until you get a single digit!
3 + 2 = 5
Now for the fun part. Match your number to a colour...
This is the colour of drama, activity and action, meaning you’re a bit of a character! Your fiery energy and competitiveness can make you quite a handful, so incorporate blue and green into your life to bring down the heat! Red in an interior can be quite overwhelming, so use wisely!

You’re friendly and easy going with a fabulously flamboyant side. Orange is the colour of freedom, so you’re prone to a little spontaneity. As an energetic, warm colour, it can be used in places for socialising – Alison from the Colour Ministry also recommends using it in the office to stimulate creativity. Get some structure with blue or indigo.

Yellow is the colour of fun – if this is your personality colour, you’re cheerful, fun and extremely inquisitive. Alongside orange, it’s a great colour to create energy and creativity. At Nest, we love a grey room with accents of yellow!

Greens are all for harmony and balance. As the colour of nature, it symbolises well being, so if you’re green you’re defined by calmness and compassion. Use green in your interior for relaxation, but be sure to balance out with warmer colours for a bit of liveliness.

As one of the coolest colours on the spectrum, a blue personality is all about communication, healing and gentleness. Like green, it’s a perfect colour for creating calm, so is great for the bedroom. Naturally, blues can sometimes feel a bit ‘blue’, so include reds, yellows and oranges in your home for energy and positivity.

If you’re indigo you’re all about structure and organisation. This means you’re often fearful of the unknown, but this doesn’t stop you from being really good at what you do. Indigo can be quite an overpowering colour in an interior, so use with caution! Balance with red to conquer your fears.

If you’re a violet personality, you know how to live life to the full. As a high frequency colour associated with the mind, violet personalities are imaginative, but sometimes struggle to stay grounded. Use green to counteract this!

You’re imaginative, creative and possess a true business mind. This makes you daring and fearless, but be sure to stay down to earth! Incorporate this colour into your interior to stay motivated. Stay grounded with green.
Gold personalities always want to do good for others, and see positives in everything around them. They are deeply spiritual characters, but this will often mean that, like violet and magenta, they sometimes struggle to face reality and deal with problems. Use gold to inject positivity and luxury into your space and stay decisive with red.
