Peter Karpf was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1940, trained as a cabinetmaker under Fritz Hansen and qualified as a furniture designer from the Copenhagen School of Arts & Crafts. During his career, Peter Karpf has, among other things, worked with furniture design for Grethe Jalk, interior design with Arne Jacobsen and industrial design with Erik Herløw. He describes himself as a nestor-minimalist, and it is perhaps precisely his sense of his own position in life that makes it so natural to find inspiration where other people seldom seek – in something so simple but indisputably beautiful as a space without furniture.
