In designing this lamp for Wästberg, his main goal was to design an archetypical lamp inspired by its original predecessors - the oil lamp or the kerosene lamp or even candle sticks - together with shades that used to sit on lamps I grew up with - lamps with an incandescent light bulb and a conical lampshade.
In other words, he wanted to design a very simple light fixture, designed to direct the light downwards but that also helps to create an ambiance in a room. This is where he started.
However, he also wanted the lamp to offer something more. A specific feature making it stand out ever so slightly from the crowd.
