Design Bloggers Tour London
We joined forces with the lovely Gerard of Walnut Grey Design and Allan of Bungalow5 to provide a range of contemporary products from our collection for a beautifully curated styling session.
From the 5-8 March 2015, the fifth Design Bloggers Tour took place in the cultural hub of London with nine influential bloggers on-board. Established in order to discover, revisit and promote the very best of what the design world has to offer, the tour has previously visited the eclectic cities of Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin and Amsterdam. Being based in Sheffield ourselves, we were excited to see the tour touch down on UK soil and get involved!
Design Bloggers United
Back in 2013, Allan of Bungalow5 united nine bloggers from across Europe at DesignTrade in Copenhagen, where a special Bloggers Zone was curated by the group. From this moment forth, a powerful alliance was formed and Design Bloggers United and the Design Bloggers Tour quickly became influential in the blogosphere.

“We are a group of likeminded people who all share the same passion for design.” – Igor, Happy Interior Blog
The bloggers were incredibly excited to bring the tour to London and experience all that England’s capital has to offer. Igor describes the city as “Europe’s design hotspot” and spoke of his excitement of collaborating “with great creative people and brands”. For others, the trip was a chance to revisit London for the first time in years and recapture fond memories. In Desiree's eyes, “London is Camden in the early 2000s!”
"With London, you find that design and culture intermingle; there’s always a vibrant energy and a creative flow." – Gerald, Walnut Grey Design
The styling session with Nest.co.uk
The bloggers experienced many things on the tour, but we were particularly excited and intrigued to see the results of the styling session. Taking place in a beautiful Mews house apartment just off Notting Hill’s Portobello Road, our products had the perfect backdrop for a creative photo shoot.
According to Igor, the apartment was chosen for a number of reasons, one of which was for its understated style: “The apartment was spacious and airy, giving us lots of space to style and create. Plus, we were in the middle of the bustling Portobello Road Market on Saturday, which allowed us to enjoy a good dose of London vibes for inspiration!”
The products we provided for the styling session were a contemporary mix of Scandinavian, British, German and Italian delights, with a strong emphasis on the clean and crisp Scandinavian aesthetic.
Lead by Desiree and Linda, the bloggers got to work on creating an effortlessly stylish interior in the apartment, casually placing our products in unexpected places for a laid-back look.
“I loved combining modern Scandinavian elements with what I see as English features, such as the apartment and the great fire place.” – Susanna, Varpunen
Susanna was especially fond of the classic solid oak E15 ST04 Backenzahn Side Table, which can also be used as a stool. Helping to add to the homely atmosphere, the Hay Peas Rug particularly captured the attention of Desiree and added warmth and texture to the interior. We especially love how the bloggers took advantage of the playful elements of each of our products and had some fun, positioning the industrial Flos Lampadina Table Lamp on the floor and placing the Muuto Balance 3 Vase Set out of their regular composition.
Formed from spun brass and finished with a sumptuous gold wash, the Tom Dixon Form Teapot is the perfect item to add a touch of luxury to any home. The bloggers went for a classic choice and complemented the polished brass with smooth marble, which draws a striking contrast against the Black Oak Tom Dixon Slab Chair.
Like their own individual sculptures, the minimalist Muuto Balance 3 Vase Set is a firm favourite at Nest.co.uk. Tying in with their natural aesthetic, the bloggers placed the magnetic vases within the suspended fireplace for a striking, earthy and unique composition.
Taking things outside, Gerard styled the iconic Isokon Plus Penguin Donkey in front of grey fire exit doors to take advantage of the urban setting. First produced in 1939, this much-loved classic is intended for holding paperbacks and magazines, but Gerard took a new stance and styled ours with contemporary objects for a wonderful juxtaposition of old and new. The Ferm Living Kelim Cushion Black Lines, Ferm Living Kelim Cushion Semicircle and HAY Quilt Braid are perfect for bringing fun pops of colour and pattern to any interior – including the balcony in this instance!
We were incredibly impressed with how the bloggers made use of our products and put them into context for all to see and draw inspiration from. The tour was a fantastic success and we were proud to be a part of it.
