The Nest.co.uk showroom – before and after
As many of you know, our Sheffield showroom has recently had a makeover.
Over the last year we’ve pulled down walls, re-plastered and re-painted, installed giant wall graphics and eventually, re-stocked our space with fabulous new products!
Hopefully many of you will have had the chance to pop in and visit, but for those who have yet to see our space, today’s blog takes a look at the progress of our refurbishment, including exclusive shots of the finished area.
The initial idea for a renovation started way back in 2012, when we decided to expand our current premises. Thanks to all the support from our fantastic customers, we’re pleased to say Nest.co.uk is growing and it was clear that more space would be needed in the very near future. So we embarked on sourcing the best retail designers to help us plan the vision we had in our heads, and began tracking down the best local craftsmen, joiners and decorators who would all help make our space a reality.
In our mind, the journey really began when we knocked through two of our walls – an exciting and symbolic step.
Next, we needed to re-arrange our current window formation, so we could install our Sheffield-inspired graphics. We removed some windows and even created new ones too, which allowed our artwork to really shine.
The pinnacle of our structural work came when our brand new steel and glass front doors were fitted. As the door panels are made entirely from glass, these have really helped to open up the space, providing a sophisticated entranceway for our showroom.
Once the building work was complete, we made a start on the interior – and the first item on the agenda was to bring our concrete floor back to life. We recruited the help of a local specialist who stripped back, re-sealed and polished, leaving us with a floor that was gleaming!
Finally, the time had come to start the internal structures. The theme for our showroom is based loosely around the architecture of Park Hill, so our internal units were centred around boxes and cubes – which resemble the box-like formation of the Park Hill flats. We also added rough textural elements onto the cabinets and display boxes which complemented the super-smooth wooden framework and shelving units.
A personal favourite spot in the new space is our canopy – a beautifully crafted wooden ceiling that has a lattice effect composition. When this was erected there was a huge cheer from all – it really does complete the space!
When our lovely Luton joiners had said goodbye, and we’d swept, hovered and tidied our hearts out, the time had finally came to bring back the furniture! Delivery after delivery arrived and the whole team were on board to help unload and display. We started by hanging our clock collection on the feature wall, then we began to arrange the furniture into key roomsets. When we were happy with the layout, the lighting was tackled – check out our huge collection of pendants, below, just waiting patiently to be hung by our team!
With the furniture and lighting now in place, it was time to accessorize! Car loads of cushions, candles, rugs and throws were delivered from our warehouse and we spent days perfecting compositions.
After a frantic couple of weeks perfecting the entire look, we were ready to open our doors! See below for some snapshots of our new space – we hope you like it!
We’d love to welcome you into our new showroom so if you can make it, please come along to Nest.co.uk, 9 Parkway Rise, Sheffield, S9 4WQ – we’ll even pop the kettle on for you! We’re open Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm and Saturdays 10am – 2pm.
